Pick your whole screen, a single window or an area. Add your microphone or the sound coming out of your computer. Press record. That is the entire app.
Free · Windows 10 and 11 · no account, no watermark, no time limit
What you can do with it
Record your whole screen, a single window, or an area you draw
Pick which monitor to record, so a second screen does not end up in the video
Record your microphone, your computer’s sound, or both together
Save as a video file, or a GIF for something short you want to paste into a chat
Choose where recordings are saved, so you are not hunting for the file afterwards
Start and stop with a keyboard shortcut, so the app never appears in your own recording
Small things that make it nicer to use
Light and dark themes, so it matches the rest of your screen
Available in English and French
A quality setting, so a long recording does not turn into a huge file
A floating control you can call up anywhere with Ctrl + Shift + F9, without hunting for the window
Sits quietly by the clock, in the system tray, while it records
One thing to know about recording computer sound
Recording your microphone works straight away. Recording the sound coming out of your computer needs a small Windows setting turned on first, because Windows does not hand that sound to apps by default. It is a one-minute change, and you only make it once.
Windows first — then what?
Windows first. If you want it on a Mac, say so — that is how I decide whether to build one.

Questions people ask
Is it really free? What is the catch?
It is free, with no account, no trial and no paid version to upgrade to. It exists partly because it is useful and partly as a sample of my work, which is the only thing I get out of it.
Will there be a watermark or a time limit?
No watermark and no time limit. The recording stops when you stop it.
Why does recording my computer’s sound need an extra step?
Your microphone works immediately. Computer sound needs one Windows setting switched on first, and the app checks for it: if it is missing, it says so on the main screen and shows you where the setting is. It takes about a minute, and only once.
Where do my recordings go?
To a folder you choose, shown on the main screen before you start. It defaults to your Videos folder, and each file is named with the date and time so they stay in order.
Which versions of Windows does it work on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11. There is no macOS or Linux version.
I build software like this for other people
This app is free because it is also a sample of how I work. If you need something built, a desktop tool, a website that takes payments, an internal system that does one job properly, I would like to hear about it.
